Entry Requirements:

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language or Chinese Language Education, or equivalent [See Note (iii)];

(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
© Met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [See Note (iv)];
(d) At least 10 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in primary schools [See Note (v)];
(e) Preference will be given to candidates who have: (1) a higher degree related to Chinese Language or Chinese Language Education, or equivalent [See Note (iii)]; (2) knowledge of current trends in Chinese Language education in both local and international settings; (3) proven leadership, excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; (4) experiences in supporting non-Chinese speaking students in learning Chinese Language; (5) good knowledge of the local education systems and the recent curriculum reform; and
(f) Candidates may be required to take a written test on the day of selection interview.

Duties:

(a) To assist the Section Head in the coordination, planning, implementing and evaluating the support services provided by the School-based Curriculum Development (Primary) Section;

(b) To provide professional support to schools and oversee a team of officers in providing advisory and professional development support services to Chinese Language panel heads and teachers of primary schools to help them implement the curriculum reform;
© To lead, implement and evaluate projects related to the development of curriculum leadership in primary schools;
(d) To conduct and coordinate in-house and territory-wide professional development activities;
(e) To coordinate the dissemination of good practices in Chinese Language learning and teaching and effective resources for use in school;
(f) To liaise with school heads/relevant parties of the schools to review the progress in school-based curriculum development; and
(g) To perform any other duties as directed by the Permanent Secretary for Education.

Terms of Appointment:

Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 2.5 years.
