Description: Position: Patient Care Assistant II Hospital: Kowloon West Cluster (Caritas Medical Centre, Princess Margaret Hospital, Yan Chai Hospital, Kwai Chung Hospital, North Lantau Hospital) Pay: HK$17,888 – HK$22,357 per month (see Remarks 6) Key Responsibilities: 1. Assist therapists in providing direct/ indirect patient care or technical assistance including: - assist speech therapists during communication and swallowing assessment and treatment; - assist in setting up and assembly of equipment and prepare patients for investigation; - cleansing, packaging and sterilization of equipment, tools and materials conductive to treatment. 2. Participate in service programme development, implementation and evaluation. 3. Participate in researches, perform data entry and statistical analysis as well as information searching. 4. Liaise, coordinate and organize meetings, programmes and activities. 5. Perform administrative and clerical support for daily operation of the department. 6. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors. Requirements: 1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent. 2. Completion of the structured departmental training (see Remarks 6). Preferable Attributes: 1. Post-secondary education or holding diplomas/certificates from recognized technical or tertiary institutions. 2. Knowledge on statistics and research work especially on SPSS application. 3. Working experience in healthcare settings or statistics related disciplines. 4. Good interpersonal communication skills, creativity, self-motivation and abilities to work independently. 5. Interest to serve and communicate with patients. 6. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. 7. Solid knowledge in computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc. Remarks: For Serving HA Staff 1. The selected candidate(s) will be offered contract or fixed terms appointment for 1 - 3 years depending on his/her employment package. 2. The offer of salary to serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package/ employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies. For External Applicants 3. Appointment will be on contract terms for 1 - 3 years. 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon satisfactory completion of contract. 4. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA. For All Applicants 5. The renewal / extension of appointment will be subject to service needs, availability of funding and job performance. 6. Candidates who do not meet the entry requirement (2) may also apply. If the candidates are found suitable for appointment, they will be employed to undergo an at least 6 months’ on the job training which includes a structured departmental training. During the training period, they will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant IIIA with monthly salary of $14,958 to provide service and to receive relevant in-service training. Upon satisfactory completion of the in-service training and passing the requisite assessment/ examination, they will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant II with monthly salary of $17,888. If an appointed candidate does not pass the requisite assessment/ examination, his/her employment may be terminated. 7. The selected candidate(s) may be required to work shift, irregular hours and may be required to attend duties during typhoons, black rainstorm warnings and other emergencies. 8.
