Description: Rank : Patient Care Assistant II Office : Operating Theatre , Hong Kong Children’s Hospital (HKCH), Kowloon Central Cluster Pay : HK$17,888 – HK$22,357 per month (See Remarks 4) Key Responsibilities: Prepare, issue and handle surgical instruments, endoscopes, equipments, furnitures and related items for operating procedures. Assist in admitting patient and providing general patient care. Assist nurse and doctor to prepare and after care of patient for clinical procedures: such as positioning and transportation. Assist in patient monitoring and caring before, during and after operating procedures. Check patient’s condition including measuring blood pressure, height and weight, urine test, etc. Handle and dispatch sterile instruments, endoscopes, equipments and consumables. Handle, prepare and aftercare of endoscopes for surgical procedures according to work instruction. Use of Surgical Instrument Tracing System (SITS) for instrument and endoscope management including issue operation picking list and stock checking on its expiry date and condition. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the Operating Theatres( OT) environment and equipment independently. Prepare patient education pamphlets and assist nurse to provide simple instruction to patient. Conduct routine check of equipment as instructed. Regular stock check of inventory and consumables. Ordering of consumables items and store keeping. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor as required. Entry Requirements 1. (a) Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent; OR (b) Completed F.3 / S.3 or equivalent with relevant working experience. 2. Holding certificate of the Health Care Assistant Training Course / Care-related Support Worker Training Course accredited by Hospital Authority. (see Remark 9) 3. Completed a recognized in-service training. (see Remark 4) Preferred Attributes 1. Work experience in the Operating Theatre. 2. Experience in using Surgical Instrument Tracking System(SITS) for surgical instrument tracking. 3. With knowledge of basic Microsoft Office program operation (e.g. Word, Excel) and Chinese word processing. 4. Good command of English and Chinese, written and spoken. Remarks For Serving HA Staff 1. The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for 1-3 year(s) depending on his/her existing employment terms. The offer of salary for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package / employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies. For External Applicants 2. Appointment will be on contract terms for an initial period of 1-3 year(s). 5% of total basic salary may be offered as end-of-contract gratuity upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance. 3. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA. For All Applicants 4. Candidates who have not completed recognized in-service training, if found suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. During the training period, the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant IIIA at a monthly salary of HK$14,958 to provide service and to receive the training. After the training period of at least 6 months and passing the end of training assessment on skills and performance, the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant II at a monthly salary of HK$17,888. If an appointed candidate does not pass the requisite assessment / examination, his/her employment may be terminated. 5. Required to work shifts and irregular hours, during typhoons, rainstorms and other emergencies. 6. Required to wear uniform, N-95 mask and other personal protective devices if needed. 7. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA. 8. The renewal/extension of appointment will be subject to service needs and job performance. 9.
