Description: Rank: Hospital Chef II Office: Catering Department, Kowloon Hospital / Kwong Wah Hospital Pay: HK$29,290 to HK$34,260 (HGPS point 12 - 15) per month including Monthly Allowance (Please see remarks 1) Key Responsibilities: Supervise cooks, foreman and frontline staff in each designated kitchen areas e.g. food preparation, cooking, plating, serving, cleaning, storing etc. Responsible for patient and non-patient catering services. Ensure all staff work to pre-determined standards of hygiene and safety and established principles and policies. Perform designated checklist and procedures for quality assurance and quality control. Provide on job training and monitor catering staff. Responsible for stock control, ordering goods and goods receipt. Arrange for repair and maintenance of utensils, equipment and facilities. Liaise with wards and other departments in any catering matters. Perform all human resources matters in the department including SDR, orientation to new staff, annual manpower review and planning. Prepare staff duty and leave rosters. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors. Entry Requirements: Certificate in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Operations or equivalent; or Chef Apprenticeship; and With a minimum of 2 years’ bulk cooking experience. Preferred Attributes / Exposure: With minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in relevant industries. Hands-on experience in large scale cooking. Knowledge of or training in ISO quality systems, HACCP and OSH. Knowledge and / or experience in DCMS, ERP, JOS, CMMS application. Possess PC skills, e.g. excel, words. Remarks: For Serving HA Staff The offer of salary and allowance (Cash Allowance, Fixed-flexi Allowance or Monthly Allowance) for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be made in accordance with prevailing policies The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for 1 to 3 years depending on his/her existing employment terms. Serving contract employee will be offered contract employment with up to 15% total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity upon completion of the contract with satisfactory performance. Serving permanent employee will be offered fixed term appointment after which the employee may be reverted back to his/her former substantive rank. For External Applicants Appointment will be on contract terms for 1 to 3 years. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end of-contract gratuity upon completion of the contract with satisfactory performance. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rejoin Mechanism of HA For All Applicants Selected candidate may be required to perform on-call duties, work shifts and irregular hours.
