Candidates should –
(a) (i) have a Master degree in Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Infection Control or Statistics from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; or
(ii) have a postgraduate diploma in Public Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Infection Control or Statistics from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, with 2 years’ relevant full time post qualification working experience;
(b) in addition to requirement (a), another 2 years of relevant full time post qualification working experience in conducting pubic health or epidemiology research/ survey, risk communication, database management and data analysis, statistical programming, management of information system and large databases is preferred;
© meet the Language Proficiency Requirement:
(i) Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) or Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or equivalent [Note(1)]; or
(ii) have (1) Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature and (2) Use of English at “Grade E” or above in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), or equivalent; and
(d) be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English.
(a) Set up, operate, maintain and evaluate information systems on public health subjects including surveillance;
(b) Update and maintain various databases, compile statistical reports and perform statistical analysis;
© Conduct quality assurance surveys to centers and clinics participating in vaccination progammes, including through on-site inspections of the facilities, administrative arrangement and vaccination procedures, to evaluate work flow and guidelines;
(d) Coordinate, design and provide inputs on compilation and analysis of statistics/ health data, and prepare statistical reports to monitor the progress of vaccination programmes;
(e) Plan and carry out research projects including the preparation of papers, briefs, statistical or progress reports and research projects on related subjects, and make recommendation to management;
(f) Support statistical and/or other research on public health studies and/or public health investigation and control;
(g) Conduct literature review, analyse and interpret data for planning of the vaccination prgrammes, various public health subjects and/or infection control measures;
(h) Handle enquiries and take up liaison work related to health information and research; and
(i) Assist in supervisory and/or training activities, and perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service terms from 6 to 12 months. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Department and the performance of the candidate.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend recruitment examination and/or interview.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions / Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
