Entry Requirements:

(a) Candidates should have:–

(i) A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or related discipline from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent;
Candidates who are students sitting the final examination of the above mentioned degree or equivalent courses before July of 2021 may also apply. If selected, their appointment will be subject to their acquisition of the requisite academic qualification before the end of August 2021. OR (ii) A higher diploma in IT or computer related discipline, or equivalent; and At least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification full-time IT working experience.

(b) Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in using the following technologies/products:–
(i) RDBMS (e.g. Oracle, DB2, etc.)
(ii) UNIX/Linux midrange platform, Microsoft Windows Server
(iii) Oracle development tools including PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports and Pro*C


Assistant Information Technology Officers are mainly responsible for the system administration, database administration and technical support on UNIX midrange platform and Oracle database including hardware and software installation, security and access control management, configuration management, performance monitoring and tuning, system troubleshooting, operation support, system documentation and other technical support activities.

Terms of Appointment:

Successful candidates will be appointed on 12 months non-civil service contract terms. Further renewal of contract will be subject to the candidate’s performance and service needs.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
