Description: Rank : Scientific Officer (Medical) Office : Nuclear Medicine Unit, Radiology & Imaging Department, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Pay : HK$5 6 ,618 to HK$131,423 (HGPS Point 25 to 44) per month including Monthly Allowance [See Remarks item 2] Key Responsibilities Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals for patient administration for radionuclide imaging and therapy in Nuclear Medicine Unit. Assure and monitor the quality of radiopharmaceuticals. Arrange the procurement, delivery, storage and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive sources. Perform special Nuclear Medicine examinations i.e. Red Cell Mass studies, Glomerular Filtration Rate studies, Denatured Red Blood Cell studies. Manage Radiopharmacy Laboratory, its safety and rational use. Ensure compliance to local regulatory requirements and conformance to international professional standard and to perform regular review and updates. Draw up documents and keep records for accreditation and regulatory purposes. Direct the development, implementation and maintenance of clinical radiopharmacy services. Supervise and train staff in the Radiopharmacy Laboratory. Undertake teaching and research to support nuclear medicine training programme. Assist in the commissioning of the Radiopharmacy Laboratories and Cyclotron in New Acute Hospital. Entry Requirements Either one of the following qualifications : A Master’s degree in a Biochemistry or Pharmaceutical Science subject related to the Nuclear Medicine from a local university, or equivalent. A degree in Pharmacy or other relevant Health or Biochemistry Science subject from a local university, or equivalent and 2 years’ experience. Practical experience in radiopharmacy, preferably in hospital radiopharmacy or relevant industry. Preferred Attributes / Exposure A holder of a Certificate of Registration and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, Hong Kong. At least 5 years’ experience in the field of Nuclear Medicine (NM) or Positron Emission Tomography (PET) radiopharmacy. Communication skills. Empathy. Commitment to patient care. Leadership. Remarks For HA Serving Staff The selected candidate(s) will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for up to 1 – 3 year(s) depending on his/ her existing employment terms. Serving contract employee will be offered contract employment with up to 15% total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity, subject to satisfactory completion of the contract. Serving permanent employee will be offered a fixed term appointment after which the employee may be reverted back to his/ her former substantive rank. The offer of salary and allowance (Cash Allowance, Fixed-flexi Allowance or Monthly Allowance) for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package/ employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies. For External Applicants Appointment will be on contract terms for a period of 1 - 3 year(s). Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.
