Entry Requirements:

Applicants should:

(1) be able to read and write simple Chinese and English; and
(2) pass a fitness test of lifting and carrying a mail bag (around 16 kg) from one place to another.

Duties:

(1) To load and unload / bundle up / dispatch mail items and mail bags;

(2) To assist in operating mechanised letter sorting machines or other mail processing machines, and date-stamping;
(3) To perform messenger duties (including indoor / outdoor delivery and collection of mail items);
(4) To convey, load and unload bulky items in indoor or outdoor areas, and deliver goods by vehicles;
(5) To tidy venues and perform cleaning duties; and
(6) To undertake duties assigned by supervisors.

Notes:
(a) Work location: Central Mail Centre, 1 Wang Chin Street, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon
(b) Working time: any 8 hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
© The basic working days are 4-6 days per week, 8 hours per day (including one-hour meal break).
(d) The working location and time may vary according to the operational needs of the Department. Selected candidates are required to work shifts, in irregular hours and / or overtime. They may also be required to be on duty on Sundays and / or public holidays on certain occasions, depending on the operational needs.

Terms of Appointment:

The successful candidate(s) will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for twelve months. Subject to operational needs, employees with good performance may have the opportunity for contract renewal after completion of the first contract.

(g) The selection interview will be held as scheduled when No. 3 Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal or lower, and / or the “Amber” or “Red” Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued. If No.8 or higher Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal, and / or “Black” Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted at 7:00 a.m. on the day of interview, or an announcement is made that such warning signal(s) will be hoisted in the coming two hours, interviews scheduled before 1:00 p.m. will be cancelled. If No.8 or higher Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal, and / or “Black” Rainstorm Warning Signal is hoisted at 12:00 noon on the day of interview, or announcement is made that such warning signals will be hoisted in the coming two hours, interviews scheduled after 1:00 p.m. will be cancelled. The Department will inform applicants of the rescheduling of interviews.
