Description: Position : Patient Care Assistant II (Clinical Assistant) Office : Various Departments , New Territories West Cluster (NTWC) Pay : HK$17,888 - HK$22,357 per month (please see Remuneration) Job: 1. Perform the following core duties for patients. a. blood-taking and related duties which include taking blood specimen and preparing blood specimen labels/blood-taking materials, blood culture, blood taking for Pediatric patients, blood glucose analysis using blood glucose meter; etc; b. ECG for patients and related duties; c. Intravenous (IV) cannulation insertion and assessing the appropriate IV site; d. taking care and monitoring patients’ condition while performing the blood-taking, ECG or IV process and reporting to senior in case of abnormal situations; e. preparing, cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing blood taking equipment, ECG machine, drug trolley and equipment in the ward/department; f. ensuring adequate and appropriate equipment for blood taking, ECG and IV cannulation; g. preparing specimen label under nurse guidance/direction and delivering/ collecting specimen sample/result from laboratory/Pathology Department; and h. conducting routine quality check of the POCT equipment and assisting patients in performing POCT test. 2. Perform other direct/in-direct patient care related duties depending on the working unit/department which include. a. assisting patients during medical check and other medical treatment procedures; b. checking patient’s condition including measuring blood pressure, height and weight, urine test, etc.; c. handling clinical waste and patient transport; d. operating necessary equipment that required to perform the supporting services; e. assisting in stock taking, collecting materials in ward, laboratory container, sterilizer and gauze, etc; and f. handling other clerical support duties, e.g. filling of laboratory reports, data entry etc. 3. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: 1. Completed F.5/ S.5 or equivalent ( please see Remarks 1 ) ; 2. Holder of Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Clinical Assistant) [“PCA(CA)”] Training Program certificate which includes blood-taking, ECG and IV Cannulation training organized by Hospital Authority ( see Remuneration 1 and 2 and Remarks 6 ); and 3. Good command of written Chinese, fluent spoken Cantonese and able to understand simple English. Preferred Attributes/Exposure: 1. Holder of Health Care Assistant or Care-related Support Workers (CRSW) certificate. 2. Possess relevant working experience and/or training in hospital or health care institution. 3. Responsible, able to work independently and with good interpersonal skills. Remuneration: 1. The selected candidates who fulfill all the entry requirements will be remunerated at a starting salary of HK$19,676 per month. 2. Candidates who have not acquired the entry requirement (2) if found suitable for appointment will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant II with a monthly salary of HK$17,888 to provide service and to receive the Corporate PCA(CA) training and the in-service training. Upon satisfactory completion of the training and passing the requisite assessments and tests, the monthly salary will be adjusted to HK$19,676. 3. The salary package is subject to review by the management if required. Remarks: For Serving HA Staff 1. Serving staff who have completed F.3/ S.3 or equivalent and have 2 years’ care-related experience may also be considered. 2. The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment up to 1-3 year(s) depending on his/her existing employment terms. 3. The offer of salary to serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package/employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies. For External Applicants 4. 5. Selected candidate will be offered contract terms for 1-3 year(s). 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon satisfactory completion of contract. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA. For All Applicants 6. Candidates who have not acquired the entry requirement 2 may also apply. The selected candidates will be required to attend Corporate PCA(CA) Training Program, complete the requisite assessments and tests, approximately in 1 year time. If the appointees cannot complete the PCA(CA) training and passed the assessments/tests, their employment with the Hospital Authority may be terminated. 7. Selected candidate may be required to work shifts, irregular hours and may be required to attend duties during typhoons, rainstorms and other emergencies. 8. Required to wear uniform and other personal protective equipment. 9. Selected candidate will be posted in Tuen Mun Hospital / Pok Oi Hospital / Tin Shui Wai Hospital and may be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA. 10.
