Candidates should have -
(a) (i) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Arts, Stage Management or Theatre Production from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education/technical college/technical institute, or equivalent; or
(ii) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Theatre and Entertainment Arts, Stage Management or Theatre Production from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, or equivalent; and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in stage management or theatre production; and
(b) not less than 9 years’ full-time post-qualification working experience in operation and maintenance of performing arts technical facilities, theatre production or theatre-related events; and
© met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (i)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.
A Senior Technical Officer, Cultural Services in Stage Work Type is mainly deployed on:-
(a) heading the stage management teams, including overseeing and planning the overall stage management and operations;
(b) providing technical advice and devising safety measures for stage operations; proposing and executing plans for maintenance, replacement, enhancement and renovation of stage equipment and facilities;
© preparing and updating technical data and drawings; and
(d) handling staff deployment, supervision and training matters.
(Notes: Members of the grade –
(1) may be required to undergo training relevant to the duties of the grade and work irregular hours; and
(2) are subject to posting and transfer within their respective streams and work types at the discretion of the Head of Grade / Department.)
Terms of Appointment:
New recruits will be appointed on three years’ civil service agreement terms. An end-of-agreement gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of tour of service required by his agreement. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme, equals 15% of the total basic substantive salary drawn during the agreement period. Upon completion of the three years’ civil service agreement terms, the officer may be appointed on the prevailing permanent terms.
(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Hong Kong on or before 11 February 2021 with the envelope clearly marked with “For application of Senior Technical Officer, Cultural Services in Stage Work Type”. (The postmark will be referred to for the submission date of the application by mail). To avoid delayed or unsuccessful delivery of applications by post, please ensure that the correct address is clearly printed or written on the envelope and sufficient postage is affixed before posting. Mail items bearing insufficient postage will not be delivered to this Department and will be returned to the sender or disposed of by the Hongkong Post, where appropriate. Candidates who are invited for selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts, certificates and proof of relevant working experience for verification and photocopies for record purposes. The application will be deemed unsuccessful if any applicant fails to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification.
Candidates who are selected for selection interview will normally receive an invitation in about eight to ten weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances, e.g. when a large number of applications are received or when there are other complications. Those who are not invited for selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
