Entry Requirements:

Candidates should have:

(a) a bachelor’s degree majoring in Archeology, History, Museum studies, Cultural studies or Anthropology from a Hong Kong university [General Notes (a)], or equivalent; and
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 results in the two language papers of Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [Notes (i) to (ii) under Entry Requirements]; and
© a good command of Cantonese, Putonghua and spoken English.
Candidates with work experience in museum or related setting are preferred.

Duties:

A Contract Assistant Curator is mainly deployed to (a) handle the daily operation of Hong Kong Correctional Services Museum (the Museum), Community Education Centre and Museum Souvenir Shop, including provision of docent services; (b) regularly update galleries of the Museum and Community Education Centre; © manage all the exhibits of the Museum; (d) organize activities in promoting Hong Kong Correctional Services history; (e) arrange visits for schools and other organizations to the Museum and handle other related matters; and (f) perform relevant administrative work and other duties as assigned by senior officers.


(Note: The appointee may be required to work outdoors, on shifts, on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.)

Terms of Appointment:

A new recruit will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for two years.

General Notes:

(a) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the address below, with specification of their on-line application numbers, if applicable. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the next round of recruitment selection.
