Description: Recruitment Day - Patient Care Assistant II (26 January 2021) Position : Patient Care Assistant II Office : Various departments Hospital : Kowloon West Cluster / Caritas Medical Centre, Kwai Chung Hospital, North Lantau Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Yan Chai Hospital Pay : HK$17,888 – HK$22,357 per month (see Remark 7) Responsibilities: 1. Provide patient care deliver and basic patient intervention according to nurses’ instruction. 2. Assist the nurses to admit patient in ward or clinic and care of patient in department. 3. Prepare patients and equipment for clinical procedures and investigations. 4. Provide patient education according to protocol. 5. Perform routine observation of patients, e.g. taking body temperature and blood pressure, etc. 6. Escort patients for examination or treatment. 7. Assist doctors or nurses to perform procedure or investigation in ward or clinic. 8. Assist in clinical audit, research, patient education, etc. 9. Check and prepare medical consumables and materials for examinations, restock after use, and assist in store inventory receiving and delivery. 10. To perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors. Requirements: 1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent (see Remark 1); AND 2. Completion of the structured departmental training (see Remark 7). Preferable Attributes: 1. Having relevant patient care training or working experience in a health care setting. 2. Pleasant and mature personality, interested in working in hospital environment and with patients. 3. Basic PC skills and knowledge in common MS office applications. 4. Completion of HCA/CRSW training with certificate. 5. Relevant experience in customer service. 6. Possess a certificate of phlebotomist training. 7. Perform general clerical and reception duties, including patient data entry and other data records. Remarks: For Serving HA Staff 1. Serving staff with F.3 / S.3 standard and 2 years’ care-related work experience may also be considered. 2. The selected candidates will be offered contract or fixed terms appointment up to 3 years depending on his/her employment contract. 3. The offer of salary to serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package/ employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies. For External Applicants 4. Appointment will be on contract terms up to 3 years. 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon satisfactory completion of contract. 5. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA. For All Applicants 6. The renewal / extension of appointment will be subject to service needs, availability of funding and job performance. 7. Candidates who do not meet the entry requirement (2) may also apply. If the candidates are found suitable for appointment, they will be employed to undergo an at least 6 months’ on the job training which includes a structured departmental training. During the training period, they will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant IIIA with monthly salary of $14,958 to provide service and to receive relevant in-service training. Upon satisfactory completion of the in-service training and passing the requisite assessment/ examination, they will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant II with monthly salary of $17,888. If an appointed candidate does not pass the requisite assessment/ examination, his/her employment may be terminated. 8. The selected candidate(s) may be required to perform 24 hours work shift, irregular hours and may be required to attend duties during typhoons, black rainstorm warnings and other emergencies. 9. The selected candidate(s) will be posted to Kowloon West Cluster and may be required to work in another working location to meet service needs of the HA. 10.
