Description: Amended on 8.1.2021 Title : Assistant Social Work Officer Rank : Assistant Social Work Officer Office : Department of Medical Social Services, Kowloon Central Cluster Pay : HK$ 35,985 to HK$ 79,606 (HGPS Point 1 6 to 33 ) per month including Monthly Allowance (See Remarks item 2) Key Responsibilities : 1. Provide psycho-social assessment and intervention. 2. Process pre-admission and discharge planning. 3. Render multi-disciplinary patient service. 4. Develop volunteer services and run mass programmes for the hospital. 5. Any job-related duties assigned by senior. Entry Requirements : 1. (a) A degree in Social Work from a local university, or equivalent. OR (b) A degree from a local university, or equivalent and have successfully completed a one-year post-graduate course in Social Work at a local university, or equivalent. OR © A degree from a local university, or equivalent and have successfully completed a two-year post-graduate course in Social Work or possess a Master’s degree in Social Work from a local university, or equivalent. 2. Registration with and a valid registration certificate issued by the Hong Kong Social Workers Registration Board. 3. (a) Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the HKCEE or equivalent. OR (b) Level 2 in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, or equivalent. 4. Fluency in written English and Chinese as well as spoken English and Cantonese. Preferred Attributes / Exposure: 1. Proficient in interpersonal and communication skills. 2. Strong drive to help and utilize various social work approaches in patient care. 3. Social work therapy skills. 4. Empathy. 5. Commitment to patient care. 6. Leadership. Remarks For HA Serving Staff 1. The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for a period of up to 1-3 year(s) depending on his/her existing employment terms. Serving permanent employee will be offered a fixed term appointment after which the employee may be reverted back to his/her former substantive rank. Serving contract employee will be offered contract employment with an up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance. 2. The offer of salary and allowance (Cash Allowance, Fixed-flexi Allowance or Monthly Allowance) for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package / employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies. For External Applicants 3. Appointment will be on contract terms for a period of 1-3 year(s), up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity will be offered, subject to satisfactory completion of the contract. 4. Retiring/ retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA. For All Applicants 5. Selected candidate would be posted to Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital or Kwong Wah Hospital and may be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA. 6.
