Job Description
Salary: HK$28,780

Entry Requirements:

Holders of Diploma / Higher Certificate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering/Building Studies /Arts in Conservation / Surveying / Civil Engineering or other construction related disciplines from a Hong Kong university / polytechnic / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education / technical institute / technical college or equivalent;
Level 2 or equivalent [See Note (1)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; and
Five years’ experience in construction industry / maintaining and repairing of historic buildings.
General Note:
For appointment purpose, Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth; Level 1 in the Use of Chinese and Use of English papers of the Common Recruitment Examination are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 4 in Chinese Language and English Language of the HKDSEE.
Candidate must be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

Major Job Duties:

To supervise the repairing and maintenance works to ensure the quality compliance;
To coordinate with contractors and resolve any site constraints and unclear issues occurs in-situ;
To perform skilled technical works, such as comment on Term Contractor’s shop drawings and submissions, and review the practicality of Term Architect’s design intent;
To coordinate with Temples Unit / Temple Keepers;
To convert Temple Unit’s user requirements to specific scope of works and reflect in Works Orders;
To supervise and direct Assistant Maintenance Officers;
To assess cost estimations as prepared by the Term Quantity Surveyor or by Assistant Maintenance Officers;
To monitor progress of maintenance and renovation of temples directly administered by Chinese Temples Committee, site inspections of contractors’ works;
To check quotations, measurement books and invoices submitted by contractors;
To review existing slope maintenance records;
To plan and monitor routine slope maintenance works;
To attend site meetings and preparing reports; and
To perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Terms of Appointment:

The successful applicant will be offered a 1-year contract. Salary may be subject to Civil Service pay adjustment. The incumbent will normally work under a 5-day week schedule. Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service. Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Employer to the MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Scheme Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Other fringe benefits include 18 days annual leave and MPF.
