Chinese International School | 漢基國際學校 is a dynamic, dual-language learning community based in Hong Kong. A private, not-for-profit co-educational school with 1,500 students in Reception-Year 13 (PreK-Grade 12), it was established in 1983 as Hong Kong’s first school teaching an international curriculum in English and Mandarin and has become a flagship school for the region with an outstanding track record of well-rounded academic achievement. Students develop a strong command of English and Mandarin, pursuing both through all year levels. In Primary, native English and Chinese speakers teach collaboratively, with equal time spent in each language. In Secondary, all students undertake the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme and spend a boarding year in Year 10 (Grade 9) at the Hangzhou CIS study centre. Graduates go on to leading universities worldwide, with about 60% choosing the US, 30% the UK, and 10% choosing Hong Kong or other countries.

CIS believes that every child has the right to grow up in a healthy, safe, secure and supportive environment. The school endorses the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) to which Hong Kong is a signatory, and seeks to be a positive learning community that promotes well being, free from hazards and harm. The school adopts a strict zero tolerance policy towards the mistreatment or abuse of children.
